Features of Digital Signage Video Wall
Imagine going beyond a single video wall and creating an entire
room of LCD video walls—all of which seamlessly interact with one
another. At a few of the larger digital signage tradeshows, we’ve
seen hints of this capability on the horizon, with end users able
to interact with and control elements of the system using motion
detection. The result looks almost like the technology used in
“Minority Report,” and we’re excited to see it come to life.
This kind of installation will probably be cost-prohibitively
expensive for the next five years or so. But as technology
advances, expect to see these types of video wall systems in use in
high-end shopping areas, entertainment venues, museums and more.
Seamless, all-in-one displays.
Here’s one feature that’s already in the works: improved multi-use
video walls. Picture a single large screen that can display a movie
or advertisement, stock tickers, social media feeds, weather
reports and anything else your clients require. As video walls
evolve, these capabilities will get even more seamless, easy to
‘Smarter’ video wall software.
Current video walls don’t know how many people have looked at its
content in a given hour. They can’t tell your you how many of them
were men and how many were women, or their average dwell time. But
in a few short years, these kinds of capabilities will be the norm.
Further down the road, we might start to see software that can
gauge people’s reaction to various content using facial detection
technology. The screens might also incorporate voice analytics in
order to “listen” for certain key words and feedback. In the
emerging world of “smart” devices, it’s only a matter of time
before video walls receive some new layers of intelligence.
What features do you think will be part of the LCD video wall of
the future? What are a few advanced capabilities that you would
love to see become mainstream?
