The rudimentary nature of the sound API is due to limitations and incompatibilities in the underlying platform, so we've opted for a minimun, least-common-denominator approach for the time being. However, a proper audio API including streaming capabilities is currently at the prototype stage, and will be available for devices capable of supporting it in a few months.

Secondly, I am quite new to this forum so please forgive me if this is double posting...
I have been playing around with the sound api for the past days and I was wondering about future development plans.
I have stumble upon 2 issues that I believe it would be nice to have:
1. Support multiple simultaneous sounds to be played
2. Support of mp3 format for windows mobile devices
