The MoSync Code Challenge, 2010

Develop an original application with MoSync and be in with a chance to win some of our fantastic prizes! You can enter with any number of applications for mobile users in the competition.

MoSync is the leading cross-platform mobile application development tool. You can use it to develop mobile applications using C/C++ then automatically port your applications to hundreds of different mobile devices and operating systems. MoSync is released under the GPL open source license. You can download MoSync and have a simple mobile application running on your phone within 15 minutes.

Enter our competition and take your first steps towards mobile application development within a truly cross-platform environment.

MoSync's APIs make it easy for you to develop applications for:

• location, mapping, GPS
• client, social media, information browsing
• games, pastimes
• office use
• the demo scene

We encourage outrageous uses of technology! Go crazy! We dare you to come up with something truly original!

Registration

There are no limitations as to the number of people in a team. Just register with us by sending an email at challenge@mosync.com with a prefered team/project/tribe name along with your details: name(s), contact e-mail, and university/company affiliation if applicable. You must register for the competition no later than February 28th, 2010 in order to enter.

Support

Throughout the competition you can use the MoSync forum, where the MoSync team will answer your queries and help guide you through your issues.

Deliverables

Your entry should include:

1. Source Code. You need to agree to have the application source published under the General Public License (GPL v3). All preflighted and fully functioning entries will be published on our website.
2. A 1-2 page summary describing the features of your application. Please include one or two screen-shots.
3. User Experience Report on working with MoSync. (See attachment below.)

Your contribution should be delivered as a single zip file containing all code and documents to challenge@mosync.com no later than 31st March, 2010 at 12AM CET

1st Prize: Google Nexus One.

2nd Prize: HTC Tattoo

Best ten applications will also be featured in-depth on the MoSync website, with special recognition and fame for the developer(s) and links to software and web page.

Judges

Your entries will be judged by a team of experts from multiple disciplines: programmers, graphic designers, user interface experts, and business leaders. The team will evaluate your application based on three important critera:

• Code (quality, design choices, aesthetics)
• Ease of use (intuitiveness, usage delight)
• Innovation (news value, exploiting the mobile medium)

Any decision of the judges is final. Prizes cannot be exchanged or replaced. Expect the final results of the MoSync Code Challenge posted publically on the MoSync website no later than April 30, 2010.
