e-Adept

e-Adept Tester

The e-Adept(previously known as Gui-Do) project was commissioned by the city of Stockholm to aid the visually-impaired in their travels around town.

Fusing cutting edge GPS technology, standards-based and efficient XML data transfer and a continuously updated spatial database, the e-Adept project aims to give the gift of mobility in ways never before imagined.

With the e-Adept project, navigating outdoors is no longer a challenge. A synthetic voice reads out directions for the user to follow, based upon the most optimal route to his desired destination as computed by the server, and delivered to the phone in real time. The server takes into account obstacles in the way, such as fallen trees, and plans the user’s route around them.

e-Adept is the first commercial product developed using Mobile Sorcery’s MoSync platform and has received nothing but positive feedback. By communicating with online web-services to report the user’s location and to plan routes, e-Adept shows MoSync’s inherent stability and reliability.
