MoSync collaborates with InMobi to enable HTML5/JavaScript developers to use in-app ads in cross-platform native mobile apps

Many application developers today find it hard to make sufficient money on app download sales and are therefore exploring other, complementary business models like in-app purchases (app upgrades, extensions, virtual goods and more) and in-app advertising.

Earlier this month, MoSync announced support for in-app purchases for Android and iOS in MoSync SDK 3.1. Today, we announced partner collaboration with InMobi, the largest independent mobile ad network.

In-app advertising is a way to monetize your apps, either as an alternative way to fund your development work, or to subsidize the app download price or subscription cost for users. According to a recent report by Juniper Research (“Mobile Advertising – Messaging, In-App and Mobile Internet Strategies 2012-2017”), in-app advertising spend across all mobile devices will reach $7.1 billion by 2015.

MoSync has added support for InMobi's JavaScript Advertisement API (using the InMobi JavaScript SDK 1.5) in the MoSync development environment, enabling HTML5/JavaScript developers to easily create apps that display InMobi ad banners using MoSync Reload and the Mosync SDK.

InMobi logoInMobi started out in the Asia-Pacific region in 2007, and launched in the U.S. and Europe in early 2010. Since then, they have seen an impressive growth. The company currently reaches 578 million consumers in 165 countries across five continents, delivering 93.4 billion ad impressions monthly (stats from January 2012).

The collaboration between MoSync and InMobi removes the headaches for developers to sign legal agreements with multiple platform providers to be able to display ads cross-platform.

According to Alex Jonsson, Chief Technical Officer at MoSync, “It was very straight-forward and easy to add support for InMobi’s JavasScript Advertisement API within the MoSync development environment. InMobi’s platform-independent mobile ad network and MoSync’s rich cross-platform development environment make for a logical and mutually beneficial partner collaboration, which enables developers to easily integrate mobile ad functionality into their HTML5 apps across multiple platforms in one go, including Android, iOS and Windows Phone.”
