The Floodgates are Opening

Yesterday I was having dinner with an associate of mine. Although she did not have a technical background she was intrigued by the concept of open source software and their communities.

"So there are people out there who make stuff and allow other people to use it for free ... and sometimes even allow them to make money? That can't be right", she said.

Well fortunately the open source community is all about giveing stuff away free and even allowing other people to make money off it. And this spirit is something we share as employees of MoSync AB. It's the near-perfect implementation of a world that runs on Karma. Do a good deed and pass on the Karma and receive the benefits after it goes a full circle. When MoSync went open-source, every one in the company knew that there is plenty of opportunity for the community start their own little projects based on MoSync technology.

And it has started quietly, there are quite a few projects out there ... but we would like to mention a few of them that have come to our attention.

  • Freasy - Easy as pie.
Freasy is a open free system that will enable users to get acess to MoSync applications regardless of which platform they use. It's an app-store enabler and it looks very promising.
  • MoBox2D
MoBox2D is a close MoSync SDK port of Erin Catto's excellent C++ Box2D physics engine.
  • ActiveFile
ActiveFile is the first FREE MoSync SDK based multi platform application to browse all folders and files in your mobile phone.

We are excited and thrilled to see the open source community sharing our vision and our dream. We would like to encourage more people to use our open source license to full effect and help spread the good message.

Live long and prosper.

Shiv
